Cape Haze, Florida (May 21, 2019)— Palm Island Resort (PIR) has been recognized as a Top 75 Tennis Resort in the annual Top 100 Tennis Resorts & Camps Rankings for 2019 by Tennis Resorts Online. This is the third consecutive year that the resort has made the list.

Each year, Tennis Resorts Online publishes its rankings of the best tennis resorts and camps worldwide. This ranking is based on reviews submitted between May 1, 2018 and April 30, 2019 by tennis vacationers, and tennis club members with additional data from accommodations, cuisine and amenities reviews to determine the rankings.

“Palm Island Resort takes great pride in this recognition,” said Vice President and General Manager Rick Brunette. “We extend our sincere gratitude to our many tennis vacationers and other guests for their contributions to our success.”

The resort offers 11 private tennis courts. They are situated throughout the lodging and homes and are free for guest use. Tennis programming takes place at the resort’s centrally located tennis facility, with three hard courts and three cushioned courts. Veteran Peter Burwash International (PBI) professional Art Santos directs the programming. A former Hawaii State of Collegiate Champion in singles and doubles, Santos joined PBI right out of college and went on to manage programs in Asia, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and the U.S., including a 28-year stint at Kohler Sports Core Health and Racquet Club and the American Club Resort in Wisconsin. He also traveled internationally as part of the PBI Tennis Show—an entertaining tennis version of the Harlem Globetrotters.

“When you consider how many resort tennis programs there are, including just here in Florida alone, to have a program ranked among the best is recognition we can all be proud of,” said Santos.

The resort’s weekly tennis programming calendar offers something for everyone, including adult and junior clinics, complimentary social round robins, private and semi-private lessons, and a player-matching service available to those looking for games. Custom-designed PBI Tennis for Life Packages are available for groups and individuals.

Florida’s only true-out island resort, Palm Island Resort is located off the coast of Cape Haze at 7092 Placida Road, about nine miles south of Englewood and north of Boca Grande. For details or reservation information, call 941-697-4800 or visit
