A six minute car ferry across the Intracoastal Waterway separates Palm Island from Florida’s mainland. This distance can be measured by yards, but you will travel a greater distance towards a relaxed state of mind, while being removed from everyday distractions.

Palm Island Transit

Palm Island is equidistant from Florida’s western hub of Tampa/St. Petersburg and Southwest Florida’s largest city of Cape Coral. The resort is easily accessible to Interstate 75, several international airports, as well as cultural, historical and recreational activities of interest. Palm Island Resort is within 45 minutes of Sarasota, known for its vibrant recreational and cultural scene, which offers activities for every taste and budget. It is a diverse area with big city amenities and small town gracious living.

Directions

From Tampa/North:

Take I-275 S., follow I-275 S and I-75 S [for about 75 miles]. to N.River Rd [Exit 191] then go right on River Rd about 10 miles, turn left on Winchester Blvd for about 7 miles, at Placida Rd [dead-ends to Placidia] go left about 1.6 miles to Panama Rd on right- Look for Palm Island Ferry Transit sign.

Once across the intracoastal waterway, proceed 1 mile to Palm Island Resort for check-in.

From Fort Myers/South:

Take I-75 North to Exit 170 Kings Highway/Arcadia/Port Charlotte and turn left onto Kings Highway. Take the first right onto Veterans Boulevard which will become SR-776. Remain on SR-776 for approximately 15 miles and turn left onto Gasparilla Road/CR77 and continue for 12 miles. Turn left onto Panama Boulevard and continue to the Palm Island Transit Car Ferry Landing. Please enter the ferry waiting zone on the right shoulder and wait for boarding instructions from the Mate. Once across the intracoastal waterway proceed 1 mile to Palm Island Resort for check-in.

Airports

With its location in Charlotte County on the Gulf coast of Florida, Palm Island Resort is conveniently served by five airports within easy driving distance, three to the north and two to the south.

 

TAMPA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (TPA) is about 100 miles to the north and is served by most major airlines with a variety of nonstop flights from many different destinations with seasonal service provided by charter carriers.

Take the airport exit and merge onto I-275 South toward St. Petersburg. Cross the Skyway Bridge and merge onto I-75 South toward Naples. Follow the directions above FROM TAMPA/NORTH to the resort. Driving time is approximately 2 hours 15 minutes.

ST. PETERSBURG/CLEARWATER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (PIE) is about 90 miles to the north and is served by Allegiant Air and Frontier Airlines and seasonal Canadian service provided by SunWing.

Take the airport exit and turn left onto Roosevelt Blvd and take the SR-686 East ramp toward St. Petersburg. Merge onto I-275 South toward St. Petersburg and continue to I-75 South toward Naples. Follow the directions above FROM TAMPA/NORTH to the resort. Driving time is approximately 2 hours.

SARASOTA/BRADENTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (SRQ) is about 50 miles to the north and is served by several major domestic and commuter carriers as well as seasonal international and domestic charter carriers.

Take the airport exit and turn left onto University Parkway and continue 6 miles to I-75 South toward Naples. Follow the directions above FROM TAMPA/NORTH to the resort. Driving time is approximately 2 hours.

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (RSW) is located about 70 miles to the south and is served by most major airlines with a variety of nonstop flights from many different destinations with seasonal service provided by charter carriers.

Take the airport exit and turn right onto Chamberlin Parkway. Turn left onto Daniels Parkway and follow the signs to I-75 North to Tampa. Follow the directions above FROM FT. MYERS/SOUTH to the resort. Driving time is approximately 1 hour 45 minutes.

PUNTA GORDA AIRPORT (PGD) is conveniently located in Charlotte County about 35 miles to the south and is served by Allegiant Air with nonstop service to over 45 destinations. Air Trek also provides private jet charter service.

Exit the airport and turn right onto Piper Road and continue for 2 miles. Take a left onto US-17 to follow signs to I-75 North to Tampa. Follow the directions above FROM FT. MYERS/SOUTH to the resort. Driving time is approximately 1 hour.
